The Municipality of Pale is located in the southeastern part of Republika Srpska entity and Bosnia and Herzegovina. It covers an area of 492 km2 in the height interval 624-1916 m above the sea level. It is located between the mountain massifs of Jahorina from the south and southeast, Gosina from the east, Romanija from the northeast and Ozren from the north and northwest. The highest altitude of the municipality is the peak of Ogorjelica (1916 m) on Jahorina, and the lowest is in the bed of the river Miljacka below Dovlić. Most of the territory of Pale is at an altitude above 800 m.

Due to its natural beauty, clean air, forests (66% of the territory) and mountain meadows, Pale has long been known as an air spa and a favorite picnic spot in this region. With outstanding ski fields on Jahorina and the necessary infrastructure (ski tracks, cable cars, ski lifts and comfortable hotels), Pale is an important skiing and winter tourist center.

The territory of Pale municipality is very interesting and rich in natural heritage. It has almost completely preserved the undisturbed nature, with a pleasant microclimate, coniferous forests and other vegetation, as well as interesting geomorphological, geological-paleontological and hydrological values. The areas of Jahorina and Romanija are true nature parks, characterized by representativeness, ambient and landscape values, beauty and wealth of forests, pastures and game, cultural and historical heritage and favorable locations. Pale offers a series of other outdoor activities on mountains Jahorina and Romanija, including hiking, aplinism and paragliding.

Jahorina Olympic Center – Skiers and other tourists have at their disposal more than 20 km of well-groomed alpine skiing trails, which are connected to 7 cable cars and 6 ski lifts, a modern ski school and a ski service.

Ravna Planina Ski Resort is located in Gornje Pale, 20 kilometers away from Sarajevo and 2 kilometers from the center of Pale. Since the 2014/15 season, this ski resort has been open to all visitors and enthusiasts of both winter and summer activities.

Pale Panorama – Due to its natural beauty, clean air, forests (66% of the territory) and mountain meadows, Pale has long been known as an air spa and a favorite picnic spot in this region.

Viewpoint from Jahorina Mountain – The majority of the municipality’s territory is covered in forest (66%).

Red Rocks, Romanija Mountain are located in the west from Mokro village. This location is popular for an excting Via Ferrata Falcon’s Path but also for other outdoor activities and picnic.

Via Ferrata Falcon’s Path, Romanija Mountain – Pale offers a series of other outdoor activities on mountains Jahorina and Romanija, including hiking, aplinism and paragliding.

Cekovic’s house is certainly one of the most beautiful and best-preserved houses in this area from the beginning of the 20th century. It was declared a national monument of B&H in 2004, and was completely reconstructed in 2007. Today, it houses a wine shop, a gallery of the Pale Art Colony and a small museum.

The Spring of Miljacka – Pale’s Miljacka rises southeast of the center of Pale on the northern slope of Ravna Planina and at an altitude of about 1010 m above sea level in the form of stronger gravity-type karst springs.
