The municipality Foča-Ustikolina is located in the south-east of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and is part of the Bosnian-Podrinje Canton. It borders the following municipalities: to the northwest with the municipality of Pale-Prača, to the northeast with the municipality of Goražde, to the west with the municipality of Trnovo and the municipality of Kalinovik, and to the south and southeast with the municipality of Foča. Ustikolina is 10 km from Foča and 23 km from Goražde.
It is located at an altitude of 370 m to 1674 m (height of Kacelje). In its long history, Ustikolina had great importance as a place on major trade routes throughout centuries. The area of the municipality is rich in remains from the Illyrian and later periods, as indicated by various toponyms, found objects, and discovered but still unexplored localities. In this area there is a number of medieval tombstones (stećak) and necropolises, the “Roman bridge”, chimneys with towers and other objects.
The oases of greenery and beauty in the river basins provide ideal conditions for the development of river tourism in these areas. Foča-Ustikolina is suitable for various outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking, hiking and fishing, and it also has a great potential for religious tourism. On the territory of the municipality there is a significant number of objects and symbols from the rich cultural and historical heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which form an integral part of its history.
Foča-Ustikolina is connected with neighbouring municipalities and the network of marked bike routes in the Upper Drina region by the bike path that goes along the old narrow gauge railway “Ćiro”, mostly along the banks of Drina.

Presjeka Cemetery near Ustikolina is associated with the medieval tradition of burial by its figurative elements. Based on the remains found, the cemetery is dating from the 16th century. It is a necropolis consisted of several groups of tombstones, which are among the oldest preserved tombstones in BiH. Their uniqueness is reflected in their motives and decoration on the tombstones: motives of spears, flags, bows and arrows, swords, apples, human hands…
The Roman Bridge near Ustikolina has been on the list of national monuments of Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2005. It used to be part of the Via Drinae road that linked these areas to the Adriatic Sea for centuries.
