The Municipality of Rudo is located in the eastern part of Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the immediate vicinity of the tri-border between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro and covers an area of 344 km2. The altitude ranges from 300-1450 m. The city of Rudo itself is located in the hilly-mountainous area, in the lower course of the river Lim, about twenty kilometers before its confluence with the Drina. It stretches between mountain peaks, and the highest peak is Goleš (1479 m) on the mountain Vučevica, which continues to Viogor, towards the municipality of Goražde. On the northern side is the Varda mountain with the highest peak of 1,389 m, and on the southern side is the Tmor mountain with the highest peak of 1,280 m.

The tourism potential lies in its rich historical heritage, cultural and historical monuments and objects of historical importance. In the territory of the municipality, there are numerous sites of medieval necropolises (stećci), which have not been sufficiently explored and examined. The whole region is linked to the name and work of Mehmed Pasha Sokolović, who was born in Sokolovići, in the immediate vicinity of Rudo. Several memorials in his birthplace are only an introduction to the great legacy of this great statesman and benefactor who commissioned the Višegrad Bridge on the river. Other important objects from the cultural and historical heritage are: monasteries, churches, mosques and historical landmarks from the First and Second World Wars.

The natural beauty of Rudo is a special attraction for visitors. The main watercourses of the Lim and Uvac rivers with their tributaries stand out. The course of the river Lim is ideal for rafting and kayaking. The lake in Stragačina, due to its natural characteristics, is a real paradise for the eyes, a place where all those who want to enjoy the charms of untouched nature, fishing or swimming. In addition, a special attraction is the sailing of „Vodeni Ćiro“ boat, in the unusually beautiful setting of the canyon of the Drina-Lim lake, in a length of 50 km between Višegrad, Goražde and Rudo. The tourist offer in Rudo includes hunting, fishing, river and rural tourism.
