Trnovo in Republika Srpska is located at 850 m above sea level, in the hilly areas of Treskavica and Jahorina mountains, with an area of 138 km² and 1,983 inhabitants. In addition to the geographical location, the traffic location is also important for the municipality of Trnovo, since Trnovo is located on the 25th kilometer of the main road Sarajevo-Trebinje-Podgorica and is located between the main routes that connect the Adriatic Sea with the continental hinterland.
The municipality of Trnovo is one of the six municipalities in the City of East Sarajevo, and it borders the territory of the municipality of Pale in the northwest, the municipalities of East Novo Sarajevo and East Ilidža in the north, and the municipality of Kalinovik in the south.
Treskavica Mountain is one of the most beautiful mountains in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A special decoration of Treskavica are its five beautiful glacial lakes, which represent the most distinct traces of the Ice Age on this mountain. The lakes represent a true natural rarity and a hiking attraction, and are located above 1500 m.
About 30% of Mountain Jahorina, which is one of the largest ski resorts in the country, belongs to Trnovo RS. This area has a great tourist potential, as it offers a range of winter season sports, various outdoor activities and luxurious accomodation facilities.

Kazani picnic site, Turovi Village is the most famous picnic spot in the vicinity of Trnovo. Kazani is a natural attraction on the Željeznica river located near the village of Turovi, at the foot of the Bjelašnica and Treskavice mountains.
Hunting Lodge, Mountain Treskavica
Mountain lodge „Radovan Bjelica“, Mountain Treskavica is one of the best mountain lodges in BIH and was built was build through the efforts of the members of the Hiking-Ecology Society “Runolist 05”, with the support of the local community. The lodge offers accomodation and other in house services.
Via Ferrata, mountain Treskavica – Treskavica Mountain offers a variety of opportunities of outdoor activities.
Veliko lake, Mountain Treskavica – Veliko lake is on of the many and the biggest lake on Treskavica mountain and it is on 1550 m of altitude. This lake is about 300 long, 150 m wide, and 5 m deep.
Mountain Jahorina – About 30% of Mountain Jahorina, which is one of the largest ski resorts in the country, belongs to Trnovo RS.
Mountain lodge Sustavac, Mountain Treskavica was established and is run by the Hiking Sports Association Treskavica from Trnovo, founded in 1985. The lodge offers accomodation and other in house services.
